What to do with it?
I dunno, whaddya wanna do with it?
Before you can start hacking it, you need to decide what you want to do with it. Since it only has a 16MB HDD any windows 95-WinXP installation is out of the question. (The smallest possible install for Windows 95 is 100MB).There is a distro of Linux called Jailbait that is claimed to work, however it was designed more for the Compaq IA-1. I am working on fixing the diskimage to work with the MSN appliance however I am not having much success at this time. As soon as I finish it and get it operational I will release it and publish it both here and to the Jailbait web site (if they let me.)
Possible uses for this box:
ZSNES Toybox: It's always on, it has enough power to run ZSNES and your favorite NES roms (remember Super Mario All Stars? my personal favorite)
Linux Thin Client for Linux Terminal Server Project: It's small, it's decent, add a USB network card to it and whammo! Instant thinclient.
Small MP3 Player: I don't know where you'd get the storage but this would be great as an addition to a stereo system.
